Day 4 of the Wool Lover Blog Hop

By Denise Russell

It is my turn to show my wooly creations... I saved one from the Pin It! Pincushion Blog Hop hosted by Sew We Quilt a couple of weeks ago, and then designed a wall hanging. Without further delay... I felted an old sweater for this one. Notice the piece I added to frame the embroidery - it came from the neckline of the sweater! It is a 5.5" x 4.5" pincushion, stuffed with polyfil, so it is very light. For contrast, I made a rose using ric-rac...  As with my previous … [Read more...] about Day 4 of the Wool Lover Blog Hop

Day 2 of the Wool Lover Blog Hop

By Denise Russell

Did you visit yesterday's participating bloggers? If not, click here for the schedule so you don't miss anything. Knitted purse, tooth fairy baggie, pincushions, socks, crochet pincushions, coasters... Wow, there is so much to learn! Speaking of learning, I recently read that originally sheep were more hairy than wooly. Isn't it wonderful that natural selection ensured more wooly sheep thrived so we could have all this fun today? Granted, sheep are not the only animals we get wool from, but … [Read more...] about Day 2 of the Wool Lover Blog Hop

First day of the Wool Lover Blog Hop

By Denise Russell

Here it is! Join us on a fun trip as we hop around today's list of blogs to find out how these creative ladies used wool on their projects. At different times of my life I enjoyed crochet, knitting, creating things with wool felt. Lately, I relax as I applique with wool and then embroider it... As I mentioned in an essay published earlier this year (click here to read it), wool comes from sheep, llamas, camels, goats, and other animal coats. Just as varied as its sources are the infinite number … [Read more...] about First day of the Wool Lover Blog Hop

Going home

By Denise Russell

Look what I found when I was wondering through a HUGE fabric store in Oregon: sock monkey flannels! No, I did not need any more fabric nor do I need to come up with ideas for new projects, but since when does that hold me back from acquiring more supplies? My friend Soraya found the socks and a book with tons of stuffed animal patterns to make with them. Oh... I could not stop thinking about my grandson Nicholas playing with those cute toys... Yep, I was hooked. I also got some minky to make … [Read more...] about Going home
