Welcome!
I’m Denise, and I design quilts for fabric manufacturers from the US and Canada, for magazines and books. I also publish patterns under the label “Pieced Brain.” I’ve been blogging here about quilting, quilt designs, machine applique’, free-motion quilting, and other crafts I enjoy since 2013.
If you are new to the blog, you may start by looking at my patterns and the places my designs have been featured to get an idea of how eclectic my quilt designs are.
To download free patterns – the ones I design for my clients, and they post them on their website – check out the Free patterns tab, download what you like, and begin sewing!

I have an Etsy store – PiecedBrain – where you can find my patterns, fabric, and ready-made quilts. All the patterns are downloadable. The printed versions are available at your favorite local quilt shops.
These patterns can be found in my Etsy Store – PiecedBrain – or at your local quilt shop.
More Than What I Make
I like to share with you everything I find interesting in quilting and other crafts. After all, I also love to read, cook, knit, crochet, embroider, and applique’!
Email me if you have any questions or suggestions. Do check the FAQs as I may have already addressed your questions. In the meantime, have fun poking around the blog!
