I got the book Homespun Comfort Afghans published by Leisure Arts for review and could not wait to begin an afghan because all the 7 patterns are so beautiful! I also liked that the projects feature one of my all-time favorite yarns: Lion Brand Homespun. As I turned the pages, the million dollar question was: which one should I make? Photograph by Jason Masters for Leisure Arts. Used with permission. I chose the Snuggly Wrap on page 20 and headed to Joann Stores. The Lion Brand … [Read more...] about Crochet Afghan

Blue Mirror Image crochet scarf
Brrrrr... it is so cold outside! I had to wake up very early to drive both teens to the dentist and bring them back in time for school. On my way out I remembered to grab my new scarf - hey, this one I made for me! The pattern is called Arches from the same book as the last crochet scarf I made: Mirror Image Scarves by Ruthie Marks. My first mirror image scarf can be seen here. I am really loving this book! This is 62" long and about 3-1/2" wide. As you can see, the pattern is easy and I … [Read more...] about Blue Mirror Image crochet scarf
Easy and fast Crochet Scarf: 2-hour project.
[Edited January 13, 2020] I don't know about you, but I like to do handwork after dinner, with my feet up on a comfortable recliner, while watching TV or listening to a book. It is so relaxing. Look at the crochet scarf I just made! It is pretty light and soft because I used Lionbrand Heartland Tweed yarn, one of my favorite for … [Read more...] about Easy and fast Crochet Scarf: 2-hour project.

Oh, but take a closer look at three of the fun Christmas fabrics I used from the North Pole After Dark collection by Dear Stella Fabrics: Look at this Santa in … [Read more...] about Starry Eve Quilt
Modern Tapestry Crochet
Although Alessandra Hayden, author of the book Modern Tapestry Crochet, and I have never met or spoken, we already have two things in common at least: we were both born in Sao Paulo, Brazil and we both learned to crochet from our grandmothers. Alessandra, however, has made crochet her major crafty passion, and we can appreciate it in her current book published by Interweave. Modern Tapestry Crochet presents twenty projects featuring out-of-this-world tapestry crochet designs. … [Read more...] about Modern Tapestry Crochet
Classic Crochet Shawls
My collection of yarn and crochet hooks keeps growing. I have crochet hooks that belonged to grandmothers long gone, metal ones I began crocheting with, others I purchased in the US. If the desire to crochet strikes when I am traveling and I have no supplies, I run to the nearest craft store, get what I need, and the fun starts. I also love that I have the electronic version in my laptop of books with projects I want to try. Armed with a pattern, yarn, and hook I nestle on the couch in my hotel … [Read more...] about Classic Crochet Shawls
