As promised, my first hat for a girl - this will be for a niece in Maryland... I found this yarn during one of my trips to JoAnn's (I have one less than 10 minutes from my house!): Everyday Soft Worsted, Deborah Norville Collection. It says 100% acrylic (Anti-Pilling Fiber), so I am hoping it is not going to be all fuzzy after the first wash. The colors are very cool and I like the way the hat turned out. The pattern is the same I used before, 2k 2p on the ribbing, then just knit till the end. … [Read more...] about Girl’s knitted hat
Aprons
Have you seen this pattern, Punch and Cookies by Sew Much Good? Someone at my guild made a couple of these aprons and they were so cute. So I got the pattern and made two aprons (a rare occurrence nowadays, since I barely have time to step into my studio...). Anyway, I just wanted to make a quick project, as Christmas is coming. This pattern is very easy to follow, as is the photo tutorial on the blog. Since I am not a seamstress, I really appreciate detailed instructions. I liked the manner in … [Read more...] about Aprons
Knit socks – Pair 2
Just when I have a quiet morning, which I could use to figure out what the last border of the round robin quilt will be, I have a nagging headache. No desire to figure out anything... Instead, I finished my second pair of knitted socks. These turned out without a glitch as I think I am getting more comfortable knitting them. I used same circular needle as in the previous pair (see post and picture here), and this time I actually made sure the size was right by trying it on as I made it. Also, I … [Read more...] about Knit socks – Pair 2
Baby Zoo
At last the first of a series of four wall hangings is finished! I am the frog (it appears on all four quilts) spying on the baby lion, as I wish I could spy on my little grandson who is about 6 and a half months old. He lives far away from me, but his pictures are everywhere I am... Speaking of babies, my sister sent a set of four of these cute babies when my youngest son was born. I have not been able to part with them! I am embroidering the second wall hanging and hope to have it … [Read more...] about Baby Zoo
Rotary Cutting Revolution
While attending the Utah Quilt Guild Quilt Fest last week, I heard Anita Grossman Solomon speaking during one of our luncheons. She is a very entertaining speaker, telling us interesting stories about her life in Manhattan, how she prepares fabric before using it, where she hangs the fabric to dry... Her quilts are beautiful, and her method of cutting the fabric is worth a try, as it is so simple! I realized then I do have her book, Rotary Cutting Revolution. Each of the blocks feature detailed … [Read more...] about Rotary Cutting Revolution
Landscape Quilts Class
Last week I was busy taking classes at the Utah Quilt Guild Fest, an annual event which gathers quilters from all corners of the state to view wonderful quilts, learn new skills, mingle with national teachers, teachers who delight us with their work and impart their knowledge to help us grow in our craft. This was my third year attending Quilt Fest, and by far it was the best! There were so many great options for classes: Kim Diehl and her machine applique method, Anita Grossman Solomon … [Read more...] about Landscape Quilts Class
