Smocking Quilt
Happy Friday! Today I have a fun pattern for you to work on - it is called Smocking which can be downloaded from Annie's Craft Store. This quilt measures 53" x 73" and the blocks finish at 10". The blocks are easy to make and the project comes together very quickly. Melissa from Sew Shabby Quilting chose the perfect quilting motif for the fabrics I used: Michael Miller's Marine Batiks. Lady of the Lake Quilt
I am loving my version of the Lady of the Lake quilt, a new pattern by Fat Quarter Shop from their Classic and Vintage Series. I used fabrics by Marcus Brothers from their New London line (which I have had for quite a while) for the blocks, and a gray by Cloud9 for the background. The pattern, even though is from their Classic and Vintage collection, works very … [Read more...] about Lady of the Lake Quilt
Rectangular quilt blocks
Last Saturday night I went to bed at 9:30 pm and woke up promptly at 12:30 am. After staying in bed for 30 minutes trying to go back to sleep, I realized my only option was to get up and go do something without waking up the rest of the household. Toby, the dog, looked up as I walked into the family room as if to say: Not again! Yes, again I can't sleep. The two latest books I received from Martingale for review were standing guard at the coffee table, and I needed no further … [Read more...] about Rectangular quilt blocks
FMQ tutorial
One of the ways I mark projects for quilting is by tracing the image I want to quilt onto Golden Threads paper. It allows me to be a little bit more precise as I freemotion quilt, and the design possibilities are endless. Here is how I do it: 1. Choose the design you want. The design above is from the book Designs for Continuous Line Quilting by Shirley Thompson (page 55): I looked everywhere but could not find a link for you to purchase it should you be interested. Maybe you can find … [Read more...] about FMQ tutorial
