This is how I am welcoming the Christmas season!!! I could not wait to see baby Nicholas with the Christmas hat... It came together really fast and fit him perfectly. The specs: the red yarn is Encore by Plymouth Yarn Co., the white is Eskimo, size 7 circular needles (7"). The pattern (from Leisure Arts) has you knitting the pom-pom. After trying it a couple of times I gave up and the crochet hook came to the rescue. I did not put anything inside the pom-pom as crocheting it tightly helps it … [Read more...] about Christmas Hat

Quilting away…
I am quilting a Christmas row quilt for my son Michael and his wife Daniela. It may not be ready for them to take it home when they return to California after Thanksgiving, but I will try. Thinking of decorating for Christmas, the image of tangled up lights came to mind and I could not resist transferring it to the fabric... My son will definitely be able to relate to it. Thanksgiving Day came much too quickly this year. I have an infinite number of blessings to be thankful for and, although I … [Read more...] about Quilting away…
Another afghan block
Not much quilting going on here... This is the block I finished last week. I few comments: it is way too long. Book suggestion
Just finished Saving CeeCee Honeycutt by Beth Hoffman over the weekend. My quilting friend Celeste had recommended it a few months ago but I totally forgot about it, until last week. I must have been on a crying mood as I had to put the book down at the beginning because the tears were not completely transparent... The story was well written, engaging, funny. I love reading about Southerners in the 60's. CeeCee is a girl living in a small Ohio town. Her life circumstances lead her to live with … [Read more...] about Book suggestion
Thanksgiving Wall Hanging
This wall hanging is for our house. I found this panel by Timeless Treasures at a quilt store in Reno, NV, en route to San Francisco with my mom last May. Its colors were beautiful so I could not resist it. When I got home, I promptly stored it with the other fabrics in my stash and forgot all about it. Yesterday I had time for a quick project. As I was trying to decide which fabric would qualify, I found the panel. Pieced blocks would have taken too long, so I opted to quilted it in squares. … [Read more...] about Thanksgiving Wall Hanging
