I had a little bit of leftovers from the quilt I made (can't show it to you just yet) and made this table topper. The colors are so rich, the prints so beautiful (by Hoffman Fabrics), and the days had been so gray here that I had to keep them around me a while longer! This topper measures 28" x 28". I found a place for every scrap of fabric and I am happy with how it turned out. The piecing was done with Aurifil 50 wt in light gray, which worked perfectly with all the fabric colors. Then, I … [Read more...] about Fall Table Topper
Scrappy Nine Patches
This beauty will be the newest quilt for my bed! This is only the quilt center as I am still thinking about what the borders will look like. It will be replacing the warm and cozy flannel quilt come Spring. I have been waiting for a week and no sunny day to photograph it outside... I am loving these colors! They remind me of the backroom in a house my father-in-law used to own in Bethany Beach, DE: everything was decorated in blues, yellows, and white in that welcoming room. When I opened an … [Read more...] about Scrappy Nine Patches
Spring Fest batiks
Photo by Matthew Owen for Annie's. Used by Permission. Happy Monday! Just got my "Spring Fest" batik quilt which was published in the Spring 2017 issue of Quilter's World. So glad to have it back! I loved working with Hoffman Fabric's batiks! This quilt features the Blue Hawaiian Bali Poppy collection with a wonderful palette of blues and lavenders, against a background of their Snow batik. The yellow is reminiscent of the center of the flowers... I assembled the blocks using the Strip Tube … [Read more...] about Spring Fest batiks
It Takes a Village Pattern
Phew! First pattern of the year! I received many requests to publish this pattern after I posted it on the blog yesterday. So, here it is! It is perfect for scraps! It Takes a Village measures 40"x 52" and makes a great wall hanging, baby quilt, or lap quilt. It comes together very … [Read more...] about It Takes a Village Pattern
It Takes a Village Quilt
{Update: PDF downloadable Pattern now available from Etsy on Quilterly, my store!] Happy New Year! This is my first finish of 2017: "It Takes a Village" (gave up telling my son how to hold the quilt!). It measures 40" x 52" and the blocks finished at 6". I used leftovers from my Box Garden quilt (red and white strips), Moda Bella Solids in light gray and white, and scraps in yellow. The name for this (UFO) quilt came to me once I assembled the top, as the Mother's Dream block reminded me of … [Read more...] about It Takes a Village Quilt
Quilting Studio
I am ending the year with a clean and organized studio. There a few projects in different stages of completion, as well as others waiting to be started. However, I needed to take time out to regroup and declutter. Above is my sewing station and my trusted Bernina. It is time to send it out for maintenance but I am having a hard time parting with it, even for a few days. I clean it often, oil it, etc., which will have to do for the next few weeks. My cutting table is made up of two Ikea book … [Read more...] about Quilting Studio
