[Edited January 13, 2020] I don't know about you, but I like to do handwork after dinner, with my feet up on a comfortable recliner, while watching TV or listening to a book. It is so relaxing. Crochet projects which I can finish in two hours or so are perfect for those times. This Easy and fast Crochet Scarf: 2-hour project is ideal for these occasions. Look at the crochet scarf I just made! It is pretty light and soft because I used Lionbrand Heartland Tweed yarn, one of my favorite for … [Read more...] about Easy and fast Crochet Scarf: 2-hour project.
Cozy Quilts
This is the second night in a row I woke up at 2:50 am exactly and could not go back to sleep. Forget counting sheep - it stopped working for me a long time ago. So, after a few minutes of repeating mantras in English and Portuguese (Hey, why not?) I gave up and got up. I was nice to myself because I have a cold: herbal tea, Cold-Eeze drops, flannel quilt. I worked for a few hours designing quilts for a client, then began perusing my stack of new quilt books. I grabbed Martingale's Kansas … [Read more...] about Cozy Quilts
Modern Spools Sew Along – 4 blocks!
Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you are having a wonderful time with your family. I think I can smell the breakfast casserole from here! :-) I am cheating! This time I made four blocks for the Modern Spools Sew Along! How do you like the rotary cutter? You know I cannot take credit for the design because all my applique' motifs are coming from Jaynette Huff's book Needle and Notions. Someday I will make them as paper pieced blocks as Jaynette did. For this project, however, machine applique' … [Read more...] about Modern Spools Sew Along – 4 blocks!
Joy to the World wall hanging
Merry Christmas to all my virtual quilty and crafty friends! Today is a gray day with snow on the forecast, but my heart is sunny and filled with joy, so I am sending your way my wishes of joy, happiness, good health, and success in 2018. 2017 has been fantastic and trying, blissful and heartwrenching, with moments of peace and great despair - all in one year! Remember, there is opposition (and order) in all things, so the year was as it was supposed to be. Now, let's send good vibrations and … [Read more...] about Joy to the World wall hanging
Modern Mug Rugs
My Modern Mug Rugs have just been published in the January/February 2018 issue of Modern Patchwork. I made them using Hoffman Fabrics Me+You batiks 2-1/2" strips so you know they were a breeze to put together! Aren't these colors fun? They can be gifted as a set (a housewarming gift) or individually. I have parted with four of them already as they arrived back from the publisher in time to make great Christmas gifts. I quilted them with straight lines to keep with the modern theme, using … [Read more...] about Modern Mug Rugs
Wool embroidered lids
Christmas is just around the corner and I needed two more gifts. I saw these pincushion jar lids and could not resist them! The embroidery is simple - I am not too good at it yet but I think they turned out lovely! Instead of using wool as a background as the pattern suggested, I used flannel so it would not be too difficult to close the lid once the work was done. Still, the lid does not close all the way but you can turn it once and keep treats safely inside. This is the second one I … [Read more...] about Wool embroidered lids
