Pink Paradise

By Denise Russell

How would you like to begin your weekend with a free quilt pattern? The cutie above is called Serenade, my newest pattern for Dear Stella, using the Pink Paradise collection. Isn't it beautiful? I love Rae Ritchie's flamingo panel and prints. The quilt measures 41" x 65" and comes together very fast. It is always nice to have panels in our stash for when we need to make a quilt and do not have time for a lot of block piecing. Check out these amazing prints: They are … [Read more...] about Pink Paradise

Oh, Scrap!

By Denise Russell

Have you seen Lissa Alexander's newest book? It is called Oh, Scrap! and it has just been published by Martingale. It is a whole eye candy store in one neat package: 12 projects designed specifically with our scrap stash in mind. Not that our drawers, bags, and bins are overflowing with pieces of fabrics. Right. All photographs by Brent Kane and Adam Albright for Martingale. Used with permission. As I looked through the book's pages, I kept remembering all the orphan blocks, many-sized … [Read more...] about Oh, Scrap!

Keep Swimming Quilt

By Denise Russell

My love for batiks is non-ending, so when I saw these Marine Batiks by Michael Miller Fabrics I could not wait to design a quilt with them! This is Keep Swimming and the pattern is available as a Free Download from Michael Miller's website. The quilt measures 51" x 64" and the blocks finish at 8" and 7"x8". The colors and textures of the fabrics are fantastic and I was able to use them to mimic the movement of the waves and the sandy bottom of the ocean. Take a look at some of the fabrics I … [Read more...] about Keep Swimming Quilt

Video Tutorial

By Denise Russell

Would you like to see how I appliqued these hearts so they look so soft after I quilted them? I just recorded a video for Annie's Craft Store Facebook page showing you very quickly how I did it. Whenever the applique' motif is large (these hearts measure about 6") I use this technique so I do not have a stiff project afterwards. However, when making wall hangings I am not too concerned about it. In any case, the process is quick and easy - two words we can appreciate when we want to … [Read more...] about Video Tutorial
