Now that our guild revealed our round robin quilts, I can show you what inspired my paper-piecing tutorial: My friend Sue appliqued the block (based on a David Taylor pattern) and I added the first border. As soon as her quilt is ready, I will ask to take a picture and share it with you. The other borders were so beautiful... but you will need to wait to see them. … [Read more...] about What inspired my tutorial

Round Robin Surprise
I mentioned in previous posts that our quilt guild had been working all year on a round robin. When I prepared my block, I had no idea what it would look like when the quilt top would be done, after passing by the gifted hands of four other guild members. What started like this (plus yoyos and buttons I forgot to photograph)... ... turned out like this! Isn't this gorgeous? I could not stop staring at it during our big 'reveal' at the quilt guild meeting, and then at home when I … [Read more...] about Round Robin Surprise
Holiday Boutique
I have been very busy preparing for the Hidden Valley Country Club Holiday Boutique. It will be held tomorrow, the 15th, from 2 to 8 pm. My sewing machine has been sputtering after all these weeks of work! The Bernina and I will need a few days of vacation, away from each other! Table runners, mats, stockings, napkins, stuffed animals, purses... Ai, ai, ai... No wonder I have posted fewer comments lately. Keep me in your thoughts and wish me Happy Selling! … [Read more...] about Holiday Boutique
More 3-D flowers…

I've had this book just as long as I've had Rebecca Wat's Fabric Folding book. They are inspirational, and the flowers will make … [Read more...] about More 3-D flowers…
Three Dimensional Flowers
Check out this wall hanging I made with 3-D flowers. I took this class in Annapolis, Maryland, and really loved it. The pattern can be found in Rebecca Wat's book Fantastic Fabric Folding. If you enjoy adding 3-D elements to your quilted projects, this is a great book for your library. Her flowers are easy to make, and she provides step-by-step photographs to help with each one. All the projects featured in the book are gorgeous! I have added these same flowers to a table runner, which turned … [Read more...] about Three Dimensional Flowers
A must-make bag
Have you heard of Annie at www.byannie.com? I first met her last year at Quilt Fest in Provo, Utah, when I took two EQ classes with her. She is an excellent teacher: patient, knowledgeable, fun. This year at Quilt Fest in St. George, two of my friends took a different class with Annie. They loved the bags they made, and so did I! The pattern she used was Serenity, pictured at right, a shoulder bag which features two great products: Soft and Stable (by Annie) and Texture Magic (by … [Read more...] about A must-make bag
