My laptop has a brand new 'house'! I made this sleeve knowing I will be traveling soon. Sure, I could have bought one but... could I have found one with such cool pattern? The 13-inch laptop fits in easily. Then, I can put it in my carry-on bag without worrying it will be damaged. I made a tutorial for you. It comes together so quickly that you may be tempted to make a few to give to family and friends as gifts. Let them choose the fabrics, too! Here is what you will need: Shell fabric - 16 … [Read more...] about Quick Laptop sleeve tutorial

Quilt Challenge Winner
The last two days flew by! I have been so busy (unfortunately, I could not even get close to my quilt room)... I guess many of you were busy, too, as you could not join the Strip-easy Quilt Challenge as planned. Well, I am forever thankful to the ladies who linked to the party: I love your creations. If you had as much fun as I have had the past weeks, I bet you are hooked on using leftover strips to create fun projects. I chickened out and decided to ask Mr. Randomizer to pick a … [Read more...] about Quilt Challenge Winner
Welcome to the Strip-easy Quilt Challenge!
It has been one month since I announced today's quilt challenge - Strip-easy. Most of us have tons of fabric strips, leftover from previous projects, stashed in drawers, boxes, bags... Let me start by showing … [Read more...] about Welcome to the Strip-easy Quilt Challenge!
Chocolate + quilting = happy day!

In fact, I gathered the ingredients on the kitchen counter, right before my boys arrived from school with a friend in tow. They washed their hands and, each with his own bowl, started mixing the batter. It took us waaaaay longer to prepare the cake … [Read more...] about Chocolate + quilting = happy day!
Kim’s newest quilt book
I had a chance to hear Kim Diehl speak last October at the Utah Quilt Festival: it was great to learn details about her journey as a quilter and see her beautiful quilts. Her color choices and wonderful applique patterns can make any house look and fell like a cozy home. I was anxiously awaiting her newest book, "Simple Appeal", to add to my collection of her books, and was not disappointed! Cotton and wool join in harmonic creations with simple, colorful applique pieces landing a primitive … [Read more...] about Kim’s newest quilt book
Quilted tote for Strip-easy Quilt Challenge
Here's one more project I made, using already cut strips from my stash, for the Strip-easy Quilt Challenge. I could only get three squares from the strips I stitched together and wondered for a while how I could use them. Their colors reminded me of the Lakehouse fabrics I had purchased way back in 2006 I think. With all the other strips I found, I decided on a tote with pinks and greens, with one square of the original strips on each side of the bag, and one for the pocket on the lining. I … [Read more...] about Quilted tote for Strip-easy Quilt Challenge
