Miniature Quilt: you have to try it!
I was reading a book the other day with lots of patterns for miniature quilts. My only miniature quilt so far was a paper pieced wreath I made in 2006, so I got the itch. The book was all about the Civil War, featuring beautiful reproduction fabrics. Remembering I had leftovers from my turn dash quilt (see post here), I rounded up all the fabrics (mostly strips, so this qualify for the Strip-easy Quilt Challenge coming up on this blog on May 28!) and thumbed through the pages of the book in … [Read more...] about Miniature Quilt: you have to try it!

Kite wall hanging
Rainy day here so I can't take pictures outside of this wall hanging I just finished. Still working with leftover strips from my stash, this project was easy, fun, and it is meant to inspire you as you get ready for the Strip-easy Quilt Challenge that is coming up on May 26th. The dogs were cut from wool, which my son Chris found in one of my … [Read more...] about Kite wall hanging
Strip-easy Beach Cottages Wall Hanging
While my husband is 'working' in Hawaii this week, I dream of being at the beach. More than dreaming, I made this wall hanging entirely with strips from my scrap drawer, keeping in line with the Strip-easy Quilt Challenge which is coming up at this blog on May 26. It measures 32" x 18.5", pieced using Aurifil threads as always, quilted using matching variegated thread. I started by stitching together the strips. I had no idea what to do with the resulting strata, so I cut it into 8 rectangles, … [Read more...] about Strip-easy Beach Cottages Wall Hanging
Strip-easy Table Runner
A few more strips out of my scrap drawer! I started by sewing together the four strips which I used for the butterfly. Then, I could not think of anything to do with that little strata. I cut it in rectangles... Nothing. Instead of thinking 'blocks', I started thinking 'shapes'. That is when I thought of butterfly wings. I traced triangles onto Heat'nBond paper, ironed them onto the back of the strippy rectangles, pulled the paper off and used scissors to shape the edges of the wings. I … [Read more...] about Strip-easy Table Runner
