I am totally smitten by this book I just received from Martingale for review! As I was looking through 19th-Century Patchwork Divas' Treasure of Quilts by Betsy Chutchian and Carol Staehle, one word kept coming back to my mind - fantastic! Although I have only made one quilt to date using 1800s reproduction fabrics, what I loved the most about this book was that the authors presented three different setting options (actual quilts) for each of the 10 patterns. Betsy and Carol were able … [Read more...] about 19-Century Patchwork

Neutral quilt
This is Headed North, my new pattern available at Quilterly on Etsy. I love the fabrics featured on this photo: the collection is Dear Stella Adventure Awaits by Timeless Treasures. However, look at this color variation: These four blocks were so easy to make! Each block took me under 10 minutes to complete! I think a colorful version of this pattern looks just as cool, and I am thinking scrappy, too. Just make sure that you have good contrast between those two fabrics - on the photo above: … [Read more...] about Neutral quilt
Nine Patch Quilts
My quilting voyage of the past decade is marked by some distinct phases when I would make many quilts of a particular type. I had been saving what I had left of all those fat quarters and realized that they would work well in a very scrappy quilt. Here it is on my design wall, in a different orientation. I used leftover blocks, extra white fabric, and made small size flying geese so they … [Read more...] about Scrappy Table Topper
Use all your scraps!
Guys, it has been many weeks since I last purchased new fabric. This is probably why I have been making more scrappy quilts than I have in the past. I was so happy when I received for review the book "Seems Like Scrappy" by Rebecca Silbaugh. The patterns can be made with any 'scrap collection' you may have: … [Read more...] about Use all your scraps!
