Kid’s room wall hanging

By Denise Russell

"Sandbox" is the name of this 27" x 18" wall hanging. The balls seem to be floating or rolling in the sandbox... It is snowing today - this is the best I could do for a picture. I pieced the background from scraps of beige fabrics, just adding pieces here and there until I had fabric of the size I wanted. It was a fun way to use all those scraps! Making my own fabric was very relaxing as there was not a lot of measuring or planning going on. Then, I had apple cores from a class I took two … [Read more...] about Kid’s room wall hanging

By Denise Russell

Last night I was preparing to quilt a project using a quilting pattern from a book. Here is my favorite method to do it and if you have never tried it, here is your chance to experiment. If I only wanted that motif in one block, I would pin the paper onto the block and free motion quilt it. However, I wanted it in four blocks. So, I cut … [Read more...] about Quilting motifs with paper

Softies make the best gift!

By Denise Russell

I made this softie for my grandson Nicholas and almost kept it because it turned out sooo cute! Minky on the outside, cotton on the belly and inside of legs and arms... It took me a whole afternoon to make it because I am not that good with those tissue paper patterns... However, I think it was worth the time. I was supposed to make a knot on each leg but I did not like the stubby feel of the knot, so I left the legs straight. As usual, I made a few changes as I went along: I only used one … [Read more...] about Softies make the best gift!
