There is nothing more fun than decorating a Christmas Tree with children! My boys still help me and enjoy hanging all their favorite ornaments. When they were little I bought [safe] ornaments made of resin so they could hang them on the bottom part of the tree. I handled the breakable ones to their chagrin because those were the shiny ones. This wall hanging, "My Kids' Tree", pays homage to those times (yep, pictures are not that great but I don't have these projects with me to retake them - … [Read more...] about Xmas Tree
Deco-Foil and Christmas
This is usually what my preparations for Christmas decorating look like: baskets and boxes filled with items from years of adding to the collection of ornaments. But Christmas in my house is not complete without shiny stuff! The shiny flowers on this wall hanging were added using Deco-Foil by Therm-O-Web giving the whole design a fun effect. The sun was behind the quilt when I took these pictures (Ugh! What was I thinking???) so you can see the shapes behind the applique basket and the … [Read more...] about Deco-Foil and Christmas
Quilts with Deco-Foil
Take a close look at the picture above: no, the kitchen gear featured on the pockets of this wall hanging were not appliqued - I used Deco Foil by Therm-O-web, the same company that manufactures THE ONLY fusible web I have used for the past gazillion years - HeatnBond Lite. Deco Foils are fantastic to add extra shine to your quilting projects and I am loving the effect they had on this quilt. They come in beautiful colors, too, so they can complement just about any quilt. Although the Hot … [Read more...] about Quilts with Deco-Foil
Foundation Pieced Quilt

This is actually how this quilt started, as I wanted to try out the ruler. The design evolved from there. There is something about this design that … [Read more...] about Foundation Pieced Quilt
Fabric Sales Alert!

Notice the precuts of the week page for spectacular savings. The Little Fabric Shop is going out of business. Worth going … [Read more...] about Fabric Sales Alert!
Awesome bag patterns
I was thinking of which gifts I could make for my nieces and remembered this book I received for review. As I looked through it I realized I will be making bags for them AND for me in the next few weeks. Style and Swing by Susan Dunlop showcases 12 projects including a wallet, satchel, tote, and clutch. I really liked the sections "Recommended Equipment and Tools" and the "Bag-Making Techniques": they take the guesswork out of choosing interfaces, boxing the bag base, and how to apply various … [Read more...] about Awesome bag patterns
