"Dancing Colors" is my latest pattern for Moda Bake Shop, published yesterday on their blog. The pattern was perfect for the Prints Charming line by Sandy Gervais for Moda but will work with your 2-1/2" strips from other projects, too. Jelly rolls save us so much time! I used yardage for the background and border. The 9-patch blocks, flowers and leaves were made with leftovers from the stratas. I used 3/4" green ric-rac for the vines and matching Aurifil thread for the applique and … [Read more...] about Dancing Colors
Sunbonnet Sue
I am calling this wall hanging "Age Old Lesson"... It all started with the middle block which was going to be used in a round robin quilt. However, the block measurements were off a little bit so I decided to turn it into a wall hanging instead. Then, as I thought about adding more applique to it I went to my library in search of one of my favorite books with Sunbonnet Sues. The book "Precious Sunbonnet Quilts" by Betty Alderman has beautiful designs for embroidery and applique quilts. I chose … [Read more...] about Sunbonnet Sue
Halloween Quilt
What do you think of this Halloween Quilt made by my friend Deb? I absolutely love it and wish I had made it myself because it would be adorning my house this very moment! The pattern for this quilt is found in the book "Simply Color: Orange - A Crayon Box for Quilters" by Vanessa Christenson. The Simply Color collection also features Red, Yellow, Green, and Blue books - I am thinking I need them all! What made this quilt so special for me is the fact that Deb changed the color of the stars … [Read more...] about Halloween Quilt
Upcycled Jeans Bag
How about a Christmas gift, instead of ornament or wall hanging, for a change of pace? I had started this bag many years ago and never finished it. When I started working with Deco-Foils (by Therm-O-Web) I remembered this project and thought this would be a great opportunity to finish it. Oh, I like how it turned out! The lining is of the same fabric as the decoration on the handles. I kept all the pockets from the pants in place and made sure I did not stitch over them so they are … [Read more...] about Upcycled Jeans Bag
Christmas ornament crafts – a super cute snowman.
This Snowman is one of those quick Christmas ornament crafts that double as wall decor. It is easy to make, and it's great as a gift for friends and family. I am totally smitten by him! It was fun designing and making it so I decided to post a tutorial just in case you like him, too. I used Michael Miller's Fawn Memories Christmas fabrics - they were perfect for this project. Here is what you will need: Two Xmas fat quarters [or (1) 12" square of one fabric and 4" x 6" rectangle … [Read more...] about Christmas ornament crafts – a super cute snowman.
Xmas Tree
There is nothing more fun than decorating a Christmas Tree with children! My boys still help me and enjoy hanging all their favorite ornaments. When they were little I bought [safe] ornaments made of resin so they could hang them on the bottom part of the tree. I handled the breakable ones to their chagrin because those were the shiny ones. This wall hanging, "My Kids' Tree", pays homage to those times (yep, pictures are not that great but I don't have these projects with me to retake them - … [Read more...] about Xmas Tree
