Welcome to the No Bake Jolly Bar Blog Hop hosted by Fat Quarter Shop! I was delighted when I was asked to participate - can you tell why? This pattern is so easy to make and perfect for Fat Quarter Shop's Jolly Bars. These precut rectangles are so easy to use - click here to see my first quilt made with them. I chose the Daysail Jolly Bar by Bonnie and Camille for Moda. What a fun fabric line! The pattern takes 2 Jolly Bars (although there was enough left for a crib size quilt which I will … [Read more...] about No Bake Jolly Bar Blog Hop
Batik wall hanging
The temperature is down to the single digits here... We had such very short Autumn! I barely had a chance to enjoy my fall color quilts and it was time to change to winter ones. As I was choosing the projects I was going to display around the house I found "Eye Candy", a small wall hanging I don't think I showed you. It measures 19" x 17.5", featuring batiks (except on the white flowers) and machine applique' using blanket stitch with Aurifil 40 and 12 wt threads (Their threads add such … [Read more...] about Batik wall hanging
Friday Shopping!
I hope you enjoyed your time this Thanksgiving with family and friends (or, if you are far away from family like we are, had a peaceful day!). My day started late as I woke up at 1 am, could not go back to sleep and went to my studio - one baby quilt designed, pieced, and quilted by 7 am! Then, I crashed until 10:30 am. It is OK, though, because our Thanksgiving dinner is usually around 5 - I had plenty of time! Before I go to bed I just wanted to give you a heads up about Fat Quarter Shop's … [Read more...] about Friday Shopping!
Triangle Table Runner
I am having a difficult time finding binding fabric for this table runner (not good day for pictures)! I have a bunch of gray fabrics, none work. I ran out of the gray I used on the runner as that would have been an easy solution. I went out and got some fabric that I thought would work, got home and did not like the combination. Ai, ai, ai... The idea for this table runner came from a quilt I made a while ago (see it here), minus the embroidery. The flowers were fused with HeatnBond Lite … [Read more...] about Triangle Table Runner
Dancing Colors
"Dancing Colors" is my latest pattern for Moda Bake Shop, published yesterday on their blog. The pattern was perfect for the Prints Charming line by Sandy Gervais for Moda but will work with your 2-1/2" strips from other projects, too. Jelly rolls save us so much time! I used yardage for the background and border. The 9-patch blocks, flowers and leaves were made with leftovers from the stratas. I used 3/4" green ric-rac for the vines and matching Aurifil thread for the applique and … [Read more...] about Dancing Colors
Sunbonnet Sue
I am calling this wall hanging "Age Old Lesson"... It all started with the middle block which was going to be used in a round robin quilt. However, the block measurements were off a little bit so I decided to turn it into a wall hanging instead. Then, as I thought about adding more applique to it I went to my library in search of one of my favorite books with Sunbonnet Sues. The book "Precious Sunbonnet Quilts" by Betty Alderman has beautiful designs for embroidery and applique quilts. I chose … [Read more...] about Sunbonnet Sue
