I really like four patch blocks on point. They are simple but lovely. So, with the leftovers I had from the wall hanging quilt (see previous post), I made this baby girl quilt or wall hanging. Of course, my oldest son Michael and his wife Daniela are having a boy, but you never know who the future may bring into the family... I just decided to be ahead of the game!!! The simple borders put the spotlight onto the center of the quilt. I will SITD or hand quilt this one, I am still not … [Read more...] about Leftovers from a wall hanging…
Panel wall hanging
Here is what I thought would be a quick project. I used Anni Downs panel "My Favorite Things" for Henry Glass. For some unknown reason, I decided to cut out each part of the panel... Of course, I had to figure out a way to sew the irregular-size blocks back together, but I think it turned out very cute. I left some blocks out, only keeping "my" favorite things about life. When finished, I will find room for it in my quilt studio. Anni's designs are whimsical, heart-warming... I have a few of … [Read more...] about Panel wall hanging
Twister quilt
The Lil' Twister ruler (find it here) has been sitting on my cutting table for months now. It is now time for it to get its share of the limelight! That is just fine with me, as we are having a very cold winter this year. The Road Home shelters the homeless in the Salt Lake area and, unfortunately, they have been very busy... Using whatever yarn I had handy (I like to mix yarns of different textures and colors), I made them to the specs the Humanitarian Center had given me: 60 inches … [Read more...] about Crochet scarves
A cool way to make star quilts
My quilting To-Do list for 2013 includes one or more projects with stars, as they bring wonderful memories from my childhood, when we traveled through the night from the center of Brazil to the Southeast to visit our relatives for Christmas. Luckily for me, I have just discovered a different way to put stars together, and can't wait to try it out. It uses a Clearview Triangle 60 degree ruler, which I just bought, as you strip-piece the stars. Yes, instead of sewing Y-seams, you sew stratas, cut … [Read more...] about A cool way to make star quilts
