My day is finally here! Welcome to the Be a Hexie Queen Blog hop hosted by Mdm Samm at Sew We Quilt, and cheered by Debby Kratovil. Without delay, here are my projects: Serendipity brought this wall hanging to life. I had been working on hexies with no particular project in mind when I heard about the blog hop. I signed up and started to think about what to do. So, I grabbed a piece of white fabric, ric rac, made some yo-yos... I embroidered in between the hexies to … [Read more...] about Blog Hop and Giveaway
Quick Jeans bag Tutorial
I could not donate one of my 12-year-old's jeans as it was ripped on the knees. Repairing it was not a question as this skinny jeans did no fit on his waist anymore. So, I came up with this bag in less than two hours! Some patterns for jeans bags are very complicated (I have one half done in a drawer, after a whole day of ripping pockets off and sewing them back in place later!). So, If you are ready to make a quick and stylish bag, look at the pictures below. You will need: Old jeans Lining … [Read more...] about Quick Jeans bag Tutorial
Humming bird Table Runner
Traci and Sylvia from Woolin Rouge asked if I would review one of their patterns and I chose their Humming Birdie Table Runner. I interviewed both of them about their new company here and here. Isn't it a cool pattern? I am used to seeing and doing wool applique against darker backgrounds (think primitive designs), so the colors appealed to me. I chose to repeat the trellis blue background on the outer border and am pleased with the overall effect. Above you can see the color I picked for the … [Read more...] about Humming bird Table Runner
More sewists in the family!
My 12-year-old niece Julia has caught the sewing bug! I sent her some Halloween fabrics, matching ric-rac, thread, and buttons a few weeks ago and look what she came up with! From here to a full-blown quilter it is just a hop and a skip, if only I could spend time with her in my studio... Wait, her parents may not be too happy with that idea when she returns home with a list of all the gadgets she 'must have'! :-) Her mom told me even the dog is wearing her creations! This budding sew-aholic … [Read more...] about More sewists in the family!

Applique in the USA
I am trying to get ahead of the game by working on Christmas gifts. I remember I had two of these blocks from a wall hanging I made a little while ago (and gave to someone, don't remember who, and did not keep a picture...). So, I made another table runner with one heart with stars on each end, and four layer cake pieces in between, separated by sashing. There is only one border, pieced; the backing has the same fabrics pieced in squares. As in my previous project, this table runner is also … [Read more...] about Applique in the USA
