Just this morning I finished this wall hanging featuring Anni Down's "My Favorite Things" line for Henry Glass & Co. I cut the pictures and reassembled them, only including in the quilt 'my' favorite things in life... This wall hanging measures 29.5" x 26" and it is quilted with an overall motif of... doodles, I guess. For the quilting I used Isacord embroidery thread (polyester), on both top thread and bobbin. It was easy to quilt as it is a small quilt. I added three hanging loops to the … [Read more...] about A new wall hanging

Hawaiian wall hanging – Tutorial
I designed this quilt and tutorial for Sew, Mama, Sew!, and they have just posted it on their site. It measures 20.5" x 20.5", with Anthuriums in the center, surrounded by embroidered turtles - the two things I remember often from my trips to Hawaii. The tutorial includes a PDF file with the design. The spadix on the flowers is embroidered using long and short stitches, and the turtles are done with back stitches. Head over to Sew, Mama, Sew!. I love their blog as they have lots of cool … [Read more...] about Hawaiian wall hanging – Tutorial
Iris quilting wall hanging
This is the wall hanging I made featuring Maruscha Gaasenbeek's iris folding technique. The heart block is from her book "Iris quilting" (see my previous post). When I read Maruscha's book and saw the Heart to Heart pattern, it was love at first … [Read more...] about Iris quilting wall hanging

Christmas Wreath Wall Hanging
I just finished this wall hanging yesterday. The wreath motif came from a Christmas Tree Skirt I found in an old book. It took a while to make templates and cut out all the pieces, but I like the way it turned out. I machine appliqued the wreath and embroidered the words. The picture is not great (rainy day makes for weird pics), but here is a detail: It measures 17 1/2 x 15 1/2. The cross-hatch quilting contrasts well with the shape of the wreath, even though I had to start and stop … [Read more...] about Christmas Wreath Wall Hanging
