Phew! It has been about three weeks since I last posted something here. My sister returned to Brazil and soon my grandsons will be coming to visit for a week (you know how much work will get done while the two little boys are here, right? Ah... but it will be fantastic!). Anyway, above is my quilt "Pinwheel Pirouette" which has just been published in the January 2019 issue of Love of Quilting magazine. This is a fun quilt to make with only four 16" blocks and a bunch of pinwheels on the border. … [Read more...] about Lots of Pinwheels

Cotton, Wool, and Giving Thanks
My sister Miriam is visiting me from Brazil! We are enjoying this precious (and short) time together so I have been working (and blogging) part-time only. She was last in the US 6 years ago - crazy, huh? All of you who live close to your siblings are so lucky! We spent a few days in Las Vegas, Nevada, and went to see Cher. What a fantastic show! Back in Utah, we have settled into a routine - working in the morning, going out in the afternoon. It is wonderful having her company and … [Read more...] about Cotton, Wool, and Giving Thanks
The Splendid Sampler 2

All photographs by Brent Kane for Martingale. Used with permission. For The Splendid Sampler 2, Pat and Jane asked 80 designers to contribute blocks which answered the question: "I'm living … [Read more...] about The Splendid Sampler 2

In this sample, I used the newest fabric collection by Maywood Studio called Burgundy Blush. I am a romantic at heart and these … [Read more...] about Victorian Fans quilt pattern
Born To Be Free
Free pattern alert! I designed Born to be Free for Hoffman Fabrics beautiful Wide Open Spaces panel. The quilt design brings to mind everything related to horses: leather saddles, checkered shirts, riding on grassy fields... a perfect quilt for horse lovers or for anyone who wants to bring a bit of the 'wild' to their home decor. Here is a different version of Born to be Free, this time featuring the Imagine This panel. I love the purples on the artwork! Hoffman Fabrics digital prints … [Read more...] about Born To Be Free
Curved Paper Piecing Tutorial with step-by-step photos
[Updated on February 3, 2020.] Many of you loved my quilt pattern "Victorian Fans". I made this curved paper piecing tutorial with step-by-step photos to show you how to put together those beautiful blocks. You can feature your favorite prints on the bottom of the fans, then use a contrasting, darker fabric for the tips. I love paper piecing or, how it is also know, foundation paper piecing. The repetition of the same steps is soothing instead of boring. The results are precise, … [Read more...] about Curved Paper Piecing Tutorial with step-by-step photos
