Just Don’t Crawl quilt

By Denise Russell

Are you ready for another free pattern? "Just Don't Crawl" is my newest pattern for Dear Stella Designs, featuring their fabric line Things That Go. It measures 54-1/2" x 63-1/2" and the PDF can be downloaded by clicking here. I named it Just Don't Crawl because of all the transportation options featured on the prints, inviting you to move any way you fancy. My grandsons were also on my mind as I designed this quilt because they never stop. Here are some of the fabrics I … [Read more...] about Just Don’t Crawl quilt

Patches of Blue

By Denise Russell

How do you like my Gingerbread Men? I decided to make it yesterday and did not get out of my sewing room until it was finished - I get in that mood sometimes! I used scraps of navy blue fabric with different whites for the background. The shapes were fused in place and appliqued with my method of choice - machine stitched with blanket stitch and dark blue 40 wt thread. The quilting was done with Aurifil monofilament around the Gingerbread Men and on the ditch, then with 40 wt … [Read more...] about Patches of Blue

Modern Spools Sew Along – Blocks 9 and 10

By Denise Russell

I hope you had a fantastic Thanksgiving Celebration with your family. Guys, I had to include a seam ripper in one of my blocks for the Modern Spools Sew Along, using Peta Peace's quilt pattern. When the spools are all finished and put together the quilt top will be very colorful and scrappy. I can't wait! This quilt … [Read more...] about Modern Spools Sew Along – Blocks 9 and 10

Promenade Pattern

By Denise Russell

This is Promenade, my new quilt pattern with one block in two color combinations making it a fast project to assemble. This one-block pattern is ideal for featuring fabrics that you love yet can't get yourself to cut them into small pieces. The quilt finishes at 54" x 70" and here are the fabrics I chose up close:  Macaroons! I chose to showcase Dear Stella Designs fabric collection Parisienne as this design shows the beauty of the prints very well. Paris is on my … [Read more...] about Promenade Pattern

Moda All-Stars: All in a Row Again

By Denise Russell

Have you guys seen the latest Moda All-Stars book? All in a Row Again, compiled by Lissa Alexander and published by Martingale has fantastic rows we can assemble in a quilt or add to our own quilt designs. It is really difficult to pick a favorite! All photographs by Brent Kane for Martingale. Used with permission. I love that the rows will look great regardless of the type of fabric you use: modern, traditional, 1800s reproduction, 1930s... The designers went all out and did not skimp on … [Read more...] about Moda All-Stars: All in a Row Again
