I am so excited to show you the quilt I made for the Cake Mix Bake-Off Week #4, hosted by Fat Quarter Shop! Cake Mix Recipe #4 by Miss Rosie's Quilt Co. has 45 'recipe cards' (pages): you can make eight 3.75" or 4" finished half square triangles from each page on the block. I used the HSTs by themselves, but if you want to make blocks with them, two assembled Recipe Cards makes one 15" or 16" finished block. The Cake Mix Recipe #4 has four block options and three block setting options, … [Read more...] about Cake Mix Bake Off
Nature Sweet Quilt Pattern
I am so happy to show you this quilt! It is my new pattern "Nature Sweet". Here are the details: - The quilt measures 59" x 79" - The blocks finish at 10" - There are 35 blocks. The half-square triangles for the pinwheels are made using the Strip Tube Ruler, a fantastic tool for quickly making HSTs (This is my preferred method of making HSTs; I make no money as I mention the ruler on this blog or use it on my patterns). The downloadable PDF features step-by-step photographs of the block … [Read more...] about Nature Sweet Quilt Pattern
Rectangular quilt blocks
Last Saturday night I went to bed at 9:30 pm and woke up promptly at 12:30 am. The two latest books I received from Martingale for review were standing guard at the coffee table, and I needed no further … [Read more...] about Rectangular quilt blocks

Cubes and Lines
[Edited to include more information on Marci's book.] I just realized I finished this quilt in the beginning of January but never shared it with you. So I give you First Steps. I based this wall hanging on Marci Baker’s Hollow Cube, Too design (more information here). The design was suggested to me by someone else after I worked on many variations using the hollow cubes. It was not easy to make, to be sure, yet the resulting quilt looks great. The cubes are much larger than in her pattern, so I … [Read more...] about Cubes and Lines
Knitted Scarves
Last year I knitted a lot of beanies (here is one). This winter I chose to knit scarves with these three done and the fourth one mid-way to completion. Although these two were made from the same pattern, changing the yarn produces a totally different effect. Love it! These two measure 60" in length each. The texture of this one is amazing. It measures about 64" in length. This is the one I am working on right now, a little bit at a time because I have been very tired at night to do … [Read more...] about Knitted Scarves
