As I was walking Toby the dog yesterday I pondered on the fast passage of 2017 as we crunched the red, brown, orange, and yellow leaves beneath our feet. How can one be so happy with the natural display of colors and yet so startled by the pace of changing seasons? And so it is that I am now planning for Thanksgiving. I was looking forward to seeing my grandsons but it is likely they will not be visiting. My plans now revolve around a delicious dinner for the four of us and a craft project for … [Read more...] about Stitches from the Harvest
Free quilt pattern
Free pattern alert! This is Nobile, my newest quilt design for Timeless Treasures featuring their recently released line of batiks called Tonga Tuscany. Nobile measures 74-1/2" square using one block with two different fabric groups creating a quilt with an array of textures, colors, and richness reminiscent of the Italian region for which this collection was named. Bella Skill Builder Quilt
Here is my finished Bella Skill Builder quilt, the cool result of the Sew Along hosted by Fat Quarter Shop. The fabrics are Bella Solids from Moda Fabrics and the colors were chosen online so I was not sure how they would turn out together. Bright and cheerful! I pieced the backing and the binding using the same fabrics from the quilt top, so I have hardly any leftovers. You can … [Read more...] about Bella Skill Builder Quilt

Houston Quilt Market 2017
It was so much fun to walk through the aisles at Quilt Market last weekend! I returned home last night exhausted but happy. I met colleagues I've been working with virtually for a long time, hugged quilters and designers I admire, and exercised amazing self-restraint as I purchased one fat quarter bundle and one layer cake. That's it! My schedule was totally filled with meetings on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday until early afternoon. Then, I finally had a chance to walk through the … [Read more...] about Houston Quilt Market 2017
Modern Spools Sew Along – Blocks 5 and 6
Welcome back to the Modern Spools Sew Along! This time my appliqued block features an iron! I am using motifs of things I use all the time in my sewing room as you have seen from my previous posts. You can make the motifs any size you want - mine do not take up the whole block because the background fabrics need to show a lot in my opinion. I am happy I chose 1930s fabrics as they remind me of the fabrics my grandma used to sew with as she made little dresses and other clothes for us. It has … [Read more...] about Modern Spools Sew Along – Blocks 5 and 6
