This is it! Last block of the Bella Skill Builder hosted by Fat Quarter Shop! Here are my blocks: Two blocks 9A - I wonder if I should have used the yellow for a more pronounced contrast... One block 9B... ... and one block 9C. This time we used the Creative Grids Lazy Angle Ruler and it was very easy to make these stars. And just like that we came to the end of this BOM. Now we have all the blocks we need to put this quilt together. But, before we do it, let's check out the … [Read more...] about Bella Skill Builder – Block 9
Window to My Garden
Are you ready for a free pattern? This is my Window to My Garden quilt featuring the beautiful fabric line Mint Julep by Dear Stella Designs. I love its simplicity as it allowed me to show off the happy floral prints of Mint Julep: As I designed it I kept thinking of looking out the window onto my backyard and seeing the picnic table all set up just waiting for the kids and the fun food. This pattern was also perfect for Dear Stella's fabric collection Market by … [Read more...] about Window to My Garden

Piece and Quilt with Precuts
This book is a perfect segue to Pat Sloan's Teach Me to Make My First Quilt book I reviewed in my previous post. Christa is well known in the quilting community as a prolific machine quilter and, naturally, Piece and Quilt with Precuts is divided into three sections with quilt … [Read more...] about Piece and Quilt with Precuts
How to Make your First Quilt
I am often asked how I began quilting, and I tell the inquirer it all began with a book (you can read about it in this blog post). Pat Sloan takes the guesswork out of the basics about quilting beginning with important information about the sewing machine all the way to how to make (and … [Read more...] about How to Make your First Quilt
Lady of the Lake Quilt
I am loving my version of the Lady of the Lake quilt, a new pattern by Fat Quarter Shop from their Classic and Vintage Series. I made mine into a wall hanging measuring 34" x 50-1/2", perfect for an empty corner in my house. This has been a fun Sew Along! I used fabrics by Marcus Brothers from their New London line (which I have had for quite a while) for the blocks, and a gray by Cloud9 for the background. The pattern, even though is from their Classic and Vintage collection, works very … [Read more...] about Lady of the Lake Quilt
