It is 48 degrees Fahrenheit outside this morning and, although the temperature will go up to 81F today, I am wearing very warm clothes until it does. The chill in the air makes me want to play with yarn. My collection has been growing in preparation for the cooler days ahead. I am also selecting my upcoming projects and the book 100 Knits - Interweave's Ultimate Pattern Collection has a fantastic lineup! Interweave compiled 100 knitting projects all 'under one roof' so whether I am in the … [Read more...] about 100 Knit ideas
The Alphabet quilt
This is my new pattern, Memory Maker - Alphabet, a fun version of the original Memory Maker pattern with the Old St. Nick panel by Hoffman Fabrics. The panel on this new version is from the Zookeeper fabric collection by Hoffman. Isn't it fun? These fabrics show well on the quilt which is perfect for a kid's room or the classroom! Speaking of classrooms, it could be a great gift for teachers which you can whip up in no time at all. Above are the Me+You Indah … [Read more...] about The Alphabet quilt

Fall quilts
This is one of my favorite mini quilts I made: it measures 11" x 13.5" and it is heavily quilted. I used a crayon to add the clouds because my youngest son thought the landscape needed them. I took this photo at my oldest son's place. He saw the quilt, loved it, so I had to give it to him. Speaking of my son's place, it is spotless. He works very long hours, is a single parent to two amazing boys, and still makes sure the place is clean. I am so proud of him for many reasons, this one … [Read more...] about Fall quilts
Halloween Table Runner
I was testing a pattern the other day and decided to use some Halloween-themed fabrics I've had for a while. Ohhh... I liked it! This is the runner on my design wall. I still need to quilt it and will do so just in time for trick or treat season. I cropped the photo above so you can see the fabrics in the rectangles next to the block. I think my grandsons would love the little ghosts. I don't remember the fabric line but know it had a panel (see it here) because I made a … [Read more...] about Halloween Table Runner
Embroidery with Reiko Mori
So... a week or so ago I reviewed Gail Pan's newest book Patchwork Loves Embroidery Too and I promised I would post a progress photo of the embroidery I am doing from her book. As you can see, it is coming along, 'organic' lines and all. I am not using a hoop (sometimes I do, sometimes I don't - do not ask me why). I worked with the black first and, then, the darker 'honey'. I am adding lighter hues of the same color just for a change. I embroider at night because you know what I do during … [Read more...] about Embroidery with Reiko Mori
