Just finished my donation for our quilt guild auction. What do you think? The picture is not too good as I took it tonight, but it should give you an idea. It was based on a design by Jillily Studio, then I added the vine, flowers, leaves, hearts, and the scrappy border. Red and blue buttons around the vine make fun berries. It is 44.5" square. Slow going
Until school starts next week, it is difficult to find a couple of hours to stay in my studio to work on the projects I have going on: 1. Scrappy bed quilt (see picture of what the center will look like, not yet sewn...) 2. Table quilt for quilt guild auction - am quilting it already but decided to add more applique - due 9/5 3. Having fun with log cabins
When I started quilting I made about a dozen log cabin lap quilts before I moved on to something else. Not surprisingly, the second book I purchased was Flavin Glover's "A New Look at Log Cabin Quilts" (I found it here). What a wonderful book! Her landscape scenes with log cabin blocks are fantastic! Back in the saddle again!
I am starting to select fabrics for the bed quilt I need to make. The lady who commissioned it likes vibrant colors, mostly reds and yellows, although not modern. After looking at my stash I have decided to use these Timeless Treasures prints as inspiration, have added the green and will continue to pull fabrics to go along with the prints. In the new house…
... but quilt room is totally filled with boxes still. I like to unpack the living areas immediately so we have some sense of normalcy in the new house. That is done. As soon as my wrists feel better, I will tackle the sewing stuff. I can't wait!!! Here are views from my back deck as I write this post.
