Just had some 'fun' quilting this lap quilt for my bedroom chair. It is a companion to the quilt I made for my bed. The colors on the picture are not quite right - it is snowing here today - but you can get an idea. I purposedly quilted it with a large motif: first, I wanted it to be really soft; second, I think it is easier to freemotion quilt a flannel top using a large, overall, design. The word 'easier' is relative... I usually SITD when quilting flannel projects as I don't want to … [Read more...] about Freemotion flannel quilt

Quilting away…
I am quilting a Christmas row quilt for my son Michael and his wife Daniela. It may not be ready for them to take it home when they return to California after Thanksgiving, but I will try. Sofia and her family spent the next six months at Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City until the baby was strong enough to go home. Surgeries, set backs, prayers... Sofia is a tiny miracle girl, and this quilt is for her. This 28.5" x 24" wall hanging also showcases Anni Down's "My Favorite Things" for Henry Glass (see my previous post for the first quilt using same fabric line). I love the subtle hues of blue, pink, … [Read more...] about Sofia’s quilt

I purchased two of the panels on the left with the intention of making two identical wall hangings: one for me and one for Miriam, my sister. This way, although every Christmas we are thousands of miles apart, we would be "together" when we looked at our wall hangings. Of course, hers was made right … [Read more...] about
