Good Monday, everyone! What a wonderful Block Tour Road Rally we had last week! The Quilting Company introduced us to many of the blocks published in Volume 16 of Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks, hosted giveaways, and filled our week with lots of quilting inspiration. Thank you for all the wonderful comments about Best Friends Forever, my block published in that issue. And here is the winner of my own giveaway - a copy of the magazine and a copy of my pattern Snow … [Read more...] about 100 Blocks Giveaway Winner!

Modern Spools Sew Along – Blocks 7 and 8
Hi, everyone! Here are two more blocks for the Modern Spools Sew Along using Peta Peace's pattern. No applique' blocks this time but I already have another sewing notion motif lined up. So far, here are the other blocks I made: Once we add the sashing they will look more like spools. I am loving them so far, particularly the fact that I don't need to spend too much time working on them: they are fast, and I am doing one per week (posting them every two weeks on this … [Read more...] about Modern Spools Sew Along – Blocks 7 and 8
Block Tour Road Rally and Giveaway
Welcome to the Block Tour Road Rally! From today until Friday, November 17, Quiltmaker is celebrating the publication of 100 Blocks Volume 16 with a fun blog tour and lots of giveaways! Modern Spools Sew Along – Blocks 5 and 6
Welcome back to the Modern Spools Sew Along! This time my appliqued block features an iron! I am using motifs of things I use all the time in my sewing room as you have seen from my previous posts. I am happy I chose 1930s fabrics as they remind me of the fabrics my grandma used to sew with as she made little dresses and other clothes for us. It has … [Read more...] about Modern Spools Sew Along – Blocks 5 and 6
Wool mini quilts
The cool weather and a book with cute projects inspired me last weekend and I decided to work with wool. This mini quilt measures 7" x 9" and the recycled wool pieces came from three sweaters and a pair of pants. The simple embroidery was done with DMC floss. The osnaburg patch with the wording added a nice texture to the work. The background fabric is cotton and the embroidered Xs gave more depth to the project. I liked it so much that I had to make two identical pieces except this one was … [Read more...] about Wool mini quilts
Modern Spools Sew Along – Blocks 3 and 4
Here are two more blocks for the Modern Spools Sew Along (for more details click here). The pattern is by Peta Peace. I love the button jar, a simple machine applique' motif with lots of colorful buttons sewn on top of it. These blocks are 5-1/2" x 9-1/2" so they are really fast to stitch up. I am using Penny Rose Fabrics by Riley Blake Designs and the collection is called Apple Farm. The prints are super cute. How are your blocks coming along? I like making one block with applique' … [Read more...] about Modern Spools Sew Along – Blocks 3 and 4
