I am doing the happy dance here! These are the last blocks for the Modern Spool Sew Along! That cup turned out so cute... and I think I need one with hot chocolate to celebrate the finish. Below are all the blocks I made: I will assemble the quilt top as soon as I can and post a picture. I am not sure which spool I will turn sideways but it will be one without applique' for sure. Stay tuned! Happy quilting! … [Read more...] about Modern Spools Sew Along – All blocks done!

Modern Spools Sew Along – 4 again!
Yes, four more blocks and three blocks to finish the 23 required for the Modern Spools quilt designed by Peta Peace. I am so excited!!! No applique blocks this time by I know exactly which one will be the last. Since I have 3 blocks left I will post them together in two weeks. In the meantime, here are the other two I made: I am loving these fabrics and am glad I have lots of leftovers as I have been using a fat quarter bundle for this project. Now that the blocks are almost all done I am … [Read more...] about Modern Spools Sew Along – 4 again!
Modern Spools Sew Along – 4 blocks!
Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you are having a wonderful time with your family. I think I can smell the breakfast casserole from here! :-) I am cheating! This time I made four blocks for the Modern Spools Sew Along! How do you like the rotary cutter? You know I cannot take credit for the design because all my applique' motifs are coming from Jaynette Huff's book Needle and Notions. Someday I will make them as paper pieced blocks as Jaynette did. For this project, however, machine applique' … [Read more...] about Modern Spools Sew Along – 4 blocks!
Wool embroidered lids
Christmas is just around the corner and I needed two more gifts. I saw these pincushion jar lids and could not resist them! Still, the lid does not close all the way but you can turn it once and keep treats safely inside. This is the second one I … [Read more...] about Wool embroidered lids
Modern Spools Sew Along – Blocks 11 and 12
Welcome back to the Modern Spools Sew Along! I love the prints on these blocks... The fabric line is called Apple Farm by Penny Rose Fabrics. The funny thing is when I began quilting eons ago I did not like 1930s fabrics at all. Over ten years went by before I even owned a fat quarter that even resembled them. Now I am totally in love. In fact, my taste for fabrics has not changed but has improved dramatically to include all sorts of themes, traditional or modern, light or dark, you name it. … [Read more...] about Modern Spools Sew Along – Blocks 11 and 12
Modern Spools Sew Along – Blocks 9 and 10
I hope you had a fantastic Thanksgiving Celebration with your family. Guys, I had to include a seam ripper in one of my blocks for the Modern Spools Sew Along, using Peta Peace's quilt pattern. I use a seam ripper only all the time!!! I stitched a tiny heart-shaped button on its shortest tip to remind me the seam rippers are my friends. These prints are so beautiful! When the spools are all finished and put together the quilt top will be very colorful and scrappy. I can't wait! This quilt … [Read more...] about Modern Spools Sew Along – Blocks 9 and 10
