You've been following me in my crafty journey for the past few years and certainly have noticed I am always trying something new, something different, something fun. Quilting has taken a life of its own in my studio, yet the couple of hours between dinner and when I retire to bed are dedicated to reading and hand work - calming pastimes still filled with learning when I am reading books about embroidery, crochet, or knitting! I don't remember when I took up knitting but my first big project was … [Read more...] about Knitting Set and Book Review

"Market Stalls" for Timeless Treasures Fabrics with Tonga Antique Garage. Let's begin the week with free downloadable patterns! Timeless Treasures Fabrics released a beautiful line of batiks called Tonga Antique Garage and I designed three patterns for this line, all of which can be downloaded from their site. The quilt measures 102” x 132” making it ideal for a … [Read more...] about New quilt patterns
Jelly Roll Railway
Are you ready for another free downloadable pattern? This is Fat Quarter Shop's Jelly Roll Railway Short Cut Quilt Pattern. It comes together super fast because it uses a jelly roll from which you pick 20 strips, add background and accent/border fabrics, and begin sewing. Of course, I had to Sew Along! This is my version, and I am calling it "Color Happy". Yep, the word 'happy' had to be part of its name because of how the colors make me feel. In fact, since the beginning of this year I … [Read more...] about Jelly Roll Railway
Bella Skill Builder – 6
Happy June! Today we are working on Block 5 of the Bella Skill Builder sew along hosted by Fat Quarter Shop, improving our sewing skills with each different block. Applique’ quilt
It is a gorgeous, sunny day in Utah, perfect for introducing you to a quilt I made last night (literally, during the night): "Easy to Please". I came up with this name as I was machine appliqueing the shapes: chocolate cupcakes, flowers, and hearts, which is simply all I need (Can you relate?). If you cannot give me sweets, BE sweet to me and I will be singing. It measures about 26" x 26", a size suitable for a wall hanging or a table topper. It was pieced with Aurifil 50 wt white thread, and … [Read more...] about Applique’ quilt
Final House Blocks
Yesterday, my girlfriends and I exchanged our last blocks for the quilts we are working on together. We have each made 8 house blocks for a total of 24 house blocks for our Dwell Quilt with Moda Fabrics (see my other blocks here). Above is my block # 6 and below is block # 7, putting scraps to good use! For my last block (below) I changed a little bit the proportions of a block I really liked in the book The 4" x 5" Quilt-Block Anthology: It was fun seeing all the blocks on the … [Read more...] about Final House Blocks
