Scrappy Summer Quilt
Just finished my donation for our quilt guild auction. What do you think? The picture is not too good as I took it tonight, but it should give you an idea. It was based on a design by Jillily Studio, then I added the vine, flowers, leaves, hearts, and the scrappy border. Red and blue buttons around the vine make fun berries. It is 44.5" square. The quilting is pretty detailed, which you can see on the next picture. Between the vine and the border I quilted hearts, strung close together. Below … [Read more...] about Scrappy Summer Quilt

Cool patterns
The pattern I am working on right now is from this book by Evelyn Sloppy. If you like scrappy quilts, this is the book for you (you can find it here)! The instructions are straight forward, the pictures are gorgeous... I've had this book for a while and I am glad I finally decided to work on one of the patterns I had dog-eared. I do not make many scrappy quilts, but these are really cool looking. I don't have to go farther than my library to find inspiration... … [Read more...] about Cool patterns
Having fun with log cabins
When I started quilting I made about a dozen log cabin lap quilts before I moved on to something else. Not surprisingly, the second book I purchased was Flavin Glover's "A New Look at Log Cabin Quilts" (I found it here). What a wonderful book! Her landscape scenes with log cabin blocks are fantastic! Using batiks, I created the wall hanging pictured on left. My husband, reluctantly, let me give it to my sister who lived in Boston at the time. The quilt now hangs at the foyer of her house in Sao … [Read more...] about Having fun with log cabins
