Petit Chateau is the first quilt I designed for the Parisian Snippets collection by Frank Garcia for Blank Quilting. It measures 45″ x 45″ with blocks that finish at 5″ and 9″. The pink, turquoise, and creamy pastel colors lend a dreamy character to any project!
You can use Petit Chateau as a wall hanging (my favorite idea) or as a throw. Either way, the light colors will add a touch of whimsy to the room and warmth to the heart.
The houses, Dresden plates, and hearts feature many prints of the collection, including antique paper, mannequins, and buttons. You can make this project to memorialize a trip to Paris or to decorate your design studio.

Follow the detailed instructions to assemble the house blocks quickly and easily. I used solid fabrics from the Blank Quilting Basics Melange collection to add structural elements to the house and create negative space around the prints.
Machine piecing and fused applique will help you create a beautiful Parisian neighborhood!

The blades of the Dresden block are fused to the background fabric (from the Jot Dot collection) and machine appliqued. You can use matching threads, one single color of thread, or monofilament. As for stitches, I prefer the blanket stitch, but a tiny zigzag works just as well.

For the pieced border, I chose this heart block—a great canvas on which to showcase the beautiful prints. Stitch and flip squares on the corners of the rectangles, then sew the rectangles together, and voila’!
The alternating direction of the hearts adds movement to the quilt, reminiscent of people walking around the block. Do you love this quilt as much as I do? So, download Petit Chateau, get the Parisian Snippets fabrics, and have fun!
Rue d’Orsel is the second of the 2 free vintage quilt patterns I designed for the Parisian Snipetts collection by Blank Quilting. It measures 60″ x 70″ with 9″ blocks. You can whip up a few Rue d’Orsel quilts really fast by chain-piecing the 9-patch blocks.

The fabric squares I placed between the 9-patch blocks feature two of my favorite prints of the Parisian Snippets collection. The easy block recedes into the background, allowing the squares of fabric around it to stand out.
I enjoy showcasing stunning fabrics in simple, uncomplicated blocks. I spent a considerable amount of time selecting the blocks for both quilts, considering their visual effect, and, with Petit Chateau, creating blocks that required a bit more effort to interest the experienced quilter. Small and big girls alike would cherish either one of the Parisian Snippets quilts.
I remember the last time I made a quilt with a similar palette (to see Joyful, click here). It put me in a Zen mode while I was sewing, and the calming effect of the soft colors was even more pronounced when the quilt was completed. Still love it…
I hope you liked these quilts. Click on their names above to download the patterns, compliments of Blank Quilting!
