Download these two free patterns for table runner and quilt. Make them to jazz up your home decor or as a gift for your family and friends!
How is your summer going? I went on a short trip to Brazil to visit my family a few weeks ago and now am designing quilts and writing patterns for amazing fabric collections that are coming up soon. Speaking of upcoming collections, Let’s Partea by Blank Quilting will be shipping to stores in August, and I created two projects for it that you can download for free!
This modern teatime collection features prints in red, white, black, and gray that are perfect for quilts, totes, and other home decorating projects. The colors are vibrant with whimsical motifs for tea and coffee lovers.
The first is a Table Runner Set showcasing many fabrics with teapots, coffee pots, cups and saucers, tea bags, teaspoons, and accent patterns such as ladybugs, cherries, and geometric prints. The runner measures 27″ x 58″, and the placemats measure 19″ x 13″. The blocks finish at 8-1/2″ and 4-1/2″ for the table runner and 6-1/2″ for the placemats.
This is a perfect project for beginner quilters because you will make half-square triangles using the eight-at-a-time technique (here is a photo tutorial to help you, although the instructions in the pattern have details and diagrams). These will be used to make the pinwheel blocks for the runner and the placemats.
You will also work with the Stitch and Flip technique that is shown above – it is super simple. It is done twice on each corner to frame the middle of the block with color and texture. Easy, right?
The six blocks at the center of the table runner showcase two fabrics with tea and coffee cups decorated with cool, modern designs – I love each one! You can fussy-cut the middle squares to display the cups you like the most.
As I was working with the prints in this collection, I kept thinking how fun it would be to play I Spy with my grandsons as we have our plates on top of the placemats. Maybe I will even make a set of them for my son’s home.
Here is the second of the two free patterns for table runner and quilt – click here to download the free pattern from the Blank Quilting website. The quilt measures 47″ x 62″, and the blocks finish at 6-1/2″ and 3-1/2″. The quilt works well as a throw on the couch or over the back of a chair in your living room, or as a blanket for an impromptu picnic tea party at the park.
The blocks are also very easy to make as you work the sashing blocks using the same Stitch and Flip technique from the table square center blocks. The square blocks have a white frame around them that helps set the blocks away from the sashing and makes it easier to focus the eyes on one print at a time, too. The same blocks can also be used to make mug rugs. Here is a tutorial for a self-binding mug rug, so you will know how to finish it.
The white background on both projects calms everything down, and the solids in red and black complete the designs.
After you download the free patterns and see how fast the quilt and the table runner set come together, you may decide to buy enough fabric to make a few of them. Since the prints in the Let’s Partea collection are not tied to a specific season, you and your friends will be able to use them year-round. Classic!
Stay tuned for more free patterns!
I should already be on your list.
