Autumn Leaves Quilt

By Denise Russell

Photograph by Charley Lynch for American Quilter Magazine. Used with permission.

This morning I have my office window open as the temperature is a cool 59F, a hint of what it will be like come Autumn (never mind that later today the temperature will climb to the 90sF!). The cool air inspired me to share with you my quilt, Autumn Leaves, which has been published in the September 2018 issue of the American Quilter magazine.

Autumn Leaves measures 79.5″ x 97″ and the blocks finish at 16″. I used the Can’t Stop Falling collection by Hoffman Fabrics. L O V E those fabrics:

These are just a few of the fabrics in the collection (See the entire collection here). The Teal added an element of surprise to the palette and is a fun departure from the traditional Fall colors, don’t you agree? The block design allowed me to use many fabrics for a colorful, bright look.

Melissa from Sew Shabby Quilting added her own touch to this project with her choice of the quilting motif. We are great partners!

The September issue of American Quilter magazine has six fantastic quilt patterns (look at that cover quilt!!!) and you can find it in stores or download it by going to their website – look for the teal “Download the latest issue” box on the left side.

I need to go to my studio now as I am putting a sleeve on the back of a quilt. After that, I will begin another one which is due to be completed in one week. Phew! I hope your day will be as busy and colorful as mine!
