This is my quilt, Floral Tiles, which was just published in Quilts and More magazine. At 47-1/4″ square, it is perfect as a baby quilt or a table topper. The 9″ blocks can also be used in pillows as in the project option shown below:
I worked with the beautiful fabrics from the Roses & Arrows collection by Hope Yoder for Blank Quilting. Check out some of the ones I used:
Aren’t they gorgeous? Lots of textures to play with so I was delighted when Blank Quilting made them available for this project.
Blanket stitch is my most favorite stitch for machine applique,’ and you have seen it in many of my quilts. I love how it finishes the applique’ edge, and my Bernina is the best at it.
I free motion quilted Floral Tiles with Aurifil monofilament around the applique and white thread for the leaves on the sashing and the meandering. The solid gray background shows off the quilting very well.
The Fall 2018 issue of Quilts and More hits the stands on July 17, and it is loaded with amazing projects and articles to improve your quilting skills. The Roses & Arrows fabric collection is already in stores – soon you will have everything you need to make Floral Tiles!
It is so fun to have Floral Tiles back as its colors are perfect for my house at this time of the year because, believe it or not, my strawberry patch has no more strawberries, and the hues of its leaves are changing from all green to… yep, fall colors. Ai ai ai.
Enjoy your day,
