Knitted Scarves

By Denise Russell

Last year I knitted a lot of beanies (here is one). This winter I chose to knit scarves with these three done and the fourth one mid-way to completion.

Although these two were made from the same pattern, changing the yarn produces a totally different effect. Love it! These two measure 60″ in length each.

The texture of this one is amazing. It measures about 64″ in length.

This is the one I am working on right now, a little bit at a time because I have been very tired at night to do anything but read! So far it measures 23″ but it will be around 60″ when I am done.

I am using a darker version of the yarn on the gray scarf above, and still love the specs of color.

I took a picture of the pattern in the book Big Book of Knit Stitches and refer to it on my phone when knitting. Simple!

What crafts do you do when you cannot sew?

Hello Denise! Your knitted scarves are lovely! Plus, when it comes to scarves grey ones have always been my favorite. I used to crochet and it was my main craft activity until I began to develop C. Tunnel. I love to go in and look at all of the various varieties of yarns that are available today. They are so glamorous, soft and just one touch makes me so want to try crocheting again for a moment or two. But, I fell in love with quilting very soon after stopping crocheting. Plus, in answer to your question, I do hand embroidery usually every evening while watching movies or when I can not sew. So glad that my Grandmother's taught me this wonderful skill. As you can tell, I am a gabber. I enjoy reading your posts and decided it was time to start commenting. I do not always comment, but I do read your post everyday. Thank you for sharing and have a great day!

It is so nice to hear from you, Brenda! My grandma taught me how to crochet and knit, and I love doing both. I, too, have C Tunnel and have done the release surgery on the left hand, yet the right hand is the worse. However, I keep crafting. I love embroidery, too. Such relaxing things to do…
