Free quilted projects for Easter: choose from 3!

By Denise Russell

Phew! I had no idea we were so close to Easter! There is still time for you to download the patterns, cut the fabrics, and decorate your house with these 3 free quilted projects to celebrate Easter.

Free quilted projects for Easter

I LOVE this quilt (click here to download it)! The fabrics are beautiful and the cute bunnies will cheer everybody up. The Cotton Tales collection was designed by Abraham Hunter Art, Inc. for P & B Textiles and I had a blast designing projects for it.

The quilt above measures 51″ x 62″ and the block finishes at 10″. The prints are dainty, and the star blocks bring out the main fabric colors with a fun chain effect. The bunny blocks are set off by the purple that frames and adds depth to the design.

There is an easy trick to add the borders to the blocks so they will appear to be atop a purple block. Check out the pattern to learn that trick and use it whenever you fussy-cut prints, or to set off special blocks within a quilt.

The rabbits are surrounded by wildflowers and daisies in this panel and are fussy-cut for the blocks. You can purchase an extra panel and make pillows for the family room – they will become your favorites!

On the star blocks and borders, I used this gorgeous floral print. This collection reminds me of a bunny doll I made for my mother a while ago.

By Easter, our gardens in the Northern Hemisphere are usually bright with new blooms. The Cotton Tales collection unites the beauty of spring with adorable bunnies, and these cheerful projects can be displayed all summer long (all year long if you live in the tropics!).

I did say I had 3 free quilted projects to help you celebrate Easter. Here is the second: a table runner (download the pattern here) with a machine applique’ border. Because all the shapes are fused, you will make quick work of those flowers and stems.

The runner measures 24″ x 64″ and the blocks finish at 10″. It would also look nice above the mantel. I did design the placemats to go with the runner:

I kept the same solid colors I used on the quilt because I think they go together well with the flowers on the main fabrics. The pattern includes yardage for the table runner and six placemats.

You can choose to celebrate Easter with the 3 free quilted projects or perhaps make either the placemat set, the runner, or the quilt. Whatever you decide, get enough of the fabrics in case you want to make the other projects later.

It seems I am on vacation because I can never tell what day of the week it is anymore. I have to leave my office, go for a walk with the dog, and re-center at least once a day. Quilting helps a lot, particularly when the pattern is free!

P & B Textiles has more free projects on their site. After you download these, check out the Free Patterns tab for more goodies!

May you find joy and peace this weekend.
