Let’s call today Free pattern Monday, courtesy of Timeless Treasures. This is Pyramidal Crystals, the quilt pattern I designed for the beautiful batik collection Tonga Jewel Amethyst by Judy and Judel Niemeyer for Timeless Treasures. I am always glad when I can design quilts for batiks, especially when they are this gorgeous:
And these are just a few samples of the collection. Pyramidal Crystals measures 58-1/4″ x 69-1/2″ and the blocks finish at 10″. Although it looks complex, the quilt comes together quickly as the pattern has detailed diagrams and instructions for your convenience. This pattern is perfect for displaying the batiks in all their glory – the fabric strips used are large enough so you can see the texture of each fabric once the blocks are pieced together.

Pyramidal Crystals was inspired by the name of the collection – Amethyst. I wanted to depict the jagged edges of the amethyst and the block I chose seemed the ideal choice. Don’t you agree?
