Happy Monday! We are beginning this week with a free pattern: this is Global Impact, a mini quilt I designed for the amazing Trekking fabric collection by Michael Miller Fabrics. The quilt measures 24″ x 24″ and the blocks finish at 10″.
These are some of the fabrics I used. Aren’t they super fun? The colors would look great on projects for kids or grown-ups alike, so you can’t go wrong with this collection.
The elephants, cheetahs, and zebras in teal, black, and grays are perfect for this modern pattern, and it is easy to work with the directional fabrics to ensure they are facing up regardless of the patch as I did on the block above.
As I was contemplating how to quilt this mini I remembered the documentaries I watched about Africa showing elephants running, the dust rising and the “heat waves”. So, wavy lines did the trick.
You can download this free pattern from Michael Miller Fabrics’ website. Just click on Get Inspired then choose “Free Downloads”. Scroll down and you will find Global Impact. After you make this project, send photos and I will post them on this blog.
In the meantime, have a fun day!
