Yesterday I had time to work on the second block of Fat Quarter Shop‘s 2017 Designer Mystery BOM. Guys, these fabrics are amazing and the blocks are so beautiful! This month’s block is called Piece of Cake and was designed by Me and My Sister Designs and, as usual, they did not disappoint.
I like to label the patches, place them on the back of a cutting mat, and bring them next to me at my sewing table. Patches and pattern were ready, and so was I.
If the block stopped right here I would have been happy already. These prints take me back to my childhood and my grandmother’s house and, perhaps, this is the reason I am enjoying this BOM so much.
Keeping in good terms with Melissa from Sew Shabby Quilting is motivation enough to ensure seams lay flat, even if I must cut a V-like notch on the seam.
Voila’! Almost all the points turned out well (the one that didn’t was redone to no avail. Since I was very hungry by then, I decided I would have to live with it!)
If you haven’t done so, consider joining the 2017 Designer Mystery BOM. We began in June and will receive our last block by May 2018.
I am storing my blocks, patterns, and leftover fabrics in one of these storage boxes. They measure 12″ x 12″, come in different colors, and are stackable. I have six of those and will be getting more because my projects are multiplying like bunnies!
Speaking of multiplying projects, stay tuned: awesome giveaway coming up next week. Someone’s To Do list is about to get longer with the addition of patterns and fabrics!
Enjoy your day,
