One more project ready for Christmas. Reds and greens are my favorite Christmas colors (pardon the colors in this photo – no way to fix it!).
The background is from JoAnn’s and I’ve had it for quite a while. I love the ric-rac that my Mom sent me from Brazil and thought I would use it for hanging the card holder. It is stitched to the background and covered with the yo-yos and buttons.
Cute fabric for the pockets! It is from the ‘do not cut ever’ stash, but every once in a while I gather enough courage to dig through it and select a victim…
The pockets are lined and have batting for added structure. I stitched the pocket and trim fabrics together, made the quilt sandwich with all three layers, stitched on three sides, flipped it inside out, pressed it, and top stitched it (closing the fourth side on the way). Pockets were then quilted before being sewn to red background.
The quilting is very simple throughout so we can see the prints very well. After all, this is meant to be a quick project! I used Aurifil monofilament because I did not want any other color covering the gold swirls of the background.
I am ahead of the game for Christmas, so I am a happy girl!
Very nice. It will soon be put to good use.
What a lovely idea! I'd love if you'd link to my Finished or Not Friday Linky Party at Busy Hands Quilts each week!
