I don’t know about you, but Summer for me is busier than Christmas as I seem to have time for everything except for quilting. The boys are home all the time which means there is no way I can create something out of the blue. However, I still want to quilt. That is when I look for projects that are fast to put together.
If your Summer is anything like mine, this book may help you: Fabulously Fast Quilts by Amy Smart. All 12 patterns are beautiful, fast to assemble, and will definitely quench your thirst for quilting fun, without your having to be tied up at the sewing room for too long.
These modern quilts are separated into four categories, each featuring three projects: strip piecing; quick corners; slick slicing; and stack, slice and shuffle. These techniques are well explained in the section Basic Quiltmaking Techniques at the beginning of the book.
The quilt on the cover, Moroccan Tile, is my favorite perhaps because it reminds me of a marble mosaic I made for the deck of a previous house. Here are a few of the other patterns I liked:
These projects are great also if you want to try your hand at modern quilts, as many of you mentioned last week. For more quilt book ideas for Summer projects, check out the Quilting Books-Reviews page on this blog.
In the meantime, get your fabric strips out of the drawer and get ready for Summer!
