Diamond Art project: easy and done!

By Denise Russell

My friends and I are always looking for craft projects we can make to spruce up our home decor or to give as gifts. Why? Because we enjoy making them and the recipients love getting them – it is a win-win! Diamond Art projects fit the bill to a T!

Diamond Art

[Edited: June 14, 2020]

I had such a relaxing time working on it. At times listening to an audiobook, at times listening to music, my mind wandered while I was adding each diamond to the background. I show on this post how I worked on it.

Here’s a fun kid’s party idea: get Diamond Art kits for them to work on! It is a departure of the time-worn birthday party games, and they can giggle, talk, and sing while doing it! Even if they don’t finish it at the party, imagine the good time they will have as they complete it at home and remember the party.

If it is a girls’ birthday party, you could let them choose between the Unicorn and the Cat, for instance. For the boys’ birthday party, they could do the Boat or the Kite (these are affiliate links). Oh… I think I am onto something here because preteens and teens could have a blast with Diamond Art, too!

Last night I went out and found a frame for my Diamond Art Angel. I love how it turned out and decided to display it in the family room now. Why wait till Christmas?

The frame is 12″ x 12″. I removed the matting, trimmed the Angel, and placed it behind the glass. It was such an easy and relaxing project to make! Life has been sort of crazy the past few weeks so focusing on this project brought me much needed peace and calm.

I like that I could move my project around instead of having to leave it in one place. I would lay the little tray on top of the Angel which is covered by a plastic sheet, and all the other baggies of diamonds would go inside the kit box as I carried it to wherever I had an uncluttered spot. However, you do need a sturdy surface when you work on it.

My grandsons would love the smiling snowman… so I just ordered it. I am listening to a long Audible book – Middlemarch by George Elliot – and I will probably get this Snowman done way before the end of the book.

Speaking of audiobooks, I hooked on them as I can ‘read’ books while walking the dog, going on long drives, or working on crafts such as this one. I prefer the very long ones – what a respite from day to day life they provide! I graduated from books on tape to Audible a long time ago…

Cool Christmas finish, don’t you think? As for finishes, I have a quilt pattern to deliver today so I’ve got to work on that right now.

Enjoy your day,
