The pinwheels go from plain to more colorful as they get to the bottom to convey the message of rain, coming down like rain. It also matches the design of the panel as it is less color-saturated on top and goes wild with the flowers on its bottom.
And that is how I have fun designing quilts (always using EQ8 software by the Electric Quilt Company because I could not design as many if I used paper and pencil as when I began). My inspiration begins with all the fabrics I receive and I keep asking myself how I can feature those fabrics in a quilt to really make them shine.
