Hello, everyone! This year I am participating in the Virtual Cookie Exchange Blog Hop hosted by Just Let Me Quilt. It is all about sharing Christmas traditions, cookie recipes, and many giveaways – a perfect way to begin this December, don’t you agree?
My best memories are from Christmases growing up in Brazil. Look at the fabric above by Dear Stella Designs – there is no snow where I was born in Brazil at Christmas but our Santa Claus might as well be wearing shorts like this one! There we decorate our trees with cotton to mimic snow, the ornaments are beautiful on the artificial trees, and the Spirit of Christmas permeates everything we do in December.
We exchange Christmas gifts on Christmas Eve after midnight and then eat a delicious meal together. On Christmas Day we gather at lunchtime, eat, play games, and stay together until evening falls. However, since I have been in the United States for 31 years I am totally into our traditions here. One of them has to do with the foods we eat at this time, especially cookies!
Above is my favorite recipe for Gingerbread Snaps which I make every year. They are easy, so soft, and everyone loves them. They are perfect as gifts for friends and neighbors when you put them inside cellophane sacks decorated with Christmas images. You should try them!
Here is another ‘food’ you may want to try: how would you like to win a copy of Easy Layer-Cake Quilts: Simple Quilts That Start With 10″ Squares by Barbara Groves and Mary Jacobson of Me and My Sister Designs? I love their fun patterns which use 10″-square precuts in such unexpected ways to create beautiful designs. Here are two of my favorites:
The instructions are well written and straightforward, the diagrams are clear, and their designs make clever use of the layer-cakes. I love it and know you will love it, too.
For a chance to win it, just like Pieced Brain’s Facebook page, and click on the option in the Rafflecopter box below. Leave me a comment telling me you did. This is open to international followers also, which will receive the eVersion copy. If you live in the US you will receive a hardcopy of the book.
[Giveaway not over! Trying to fix Rafflecopter gadget. Ai ai ai… Do leave me a comment and I will manually enter you in the giveaway.]
The winner will be announced on December 8 on this blog. Be sure to leave your email address (use this format so you don’t get spammed: “soandso at gmail dot com”) so I have a way to contact you.
Below is the schedule for the Blog Hop. Let’s visit their blogs to learn about their traditions, gather delicious cookie recipes, and maybe win prizes:
